The Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary

Shelley will be describing The Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary, located 115 miles south of Galveston, which supports the northernmost coral reefs in the continental U.S.  Learn about this unique area in a fun and interactive way as you see vivid slides of the reef, demonstrations on how a coral colony is structured, feeds, reproduces and is in turn eaten.  Touch and feel coral skeletons up close and find out what is being done to protect this valuable national treasure.  Programming is appropriate for adults and children.
