First Mate Skills – Friday

Competent crew members who know their way around a boat can make the skipper look like a pro at the marina and take some of the anxiety of tricky docking situations… and they’ll always get invited back.  This session covers key skills including line handling in docking and undocking maneuvers, how to get the boat secured in its slip including proper placement of bow and stern lines, correct use of spring lines and preparing for high winds or heavy weather.  Instructors will teach how to tie knots like a pro and how to coil, heave and store lines and rope correctly.  This event is ideal for all but the most experienced crew members (and skippers).

Registration fee for each 1 hour event is $20 in advance or $25 at the show.
